When Dan Caruso stepped down from Zayo Group a few years ago, he’d spent nearly 20 years as a CEO. Especially passionate about global entrepreneurship and the intersection between tech scaleups and inclusion, Dan launched Caruso Ventures to help the next generation of tech leaders achieve their visions, while encouraging them to use their platforms to support the communities around them. As he said in his commencement speech to CU Boulder’s MBA Class of 2022: “My bet is on your generation.”
Caruso Ventures has made 18 investments in technology companies of various stages since launching, including aerospace unicorn Boom Supersonic, active lifestyle brand Outside, and Honest Jobs, an employment marketplace for people impacted by the criminal justice system. The investment firm, which connects with innovative companies in Colorado and beyond, is a family endeavor: along with Dan as managing director, his wife Cindy runs the foundation arm, daughter Kailey works as a development and relationship associate, and son Danny serves as a senior analyst.
