Gloo LifeFrom the founders, Scott and Theresa Beck, “Throughout our life together, we’ve shared a passion for strong communities and personal growth. This shows through our foundation’s support, global impact and local focus. As we built this groundwork, our energy was split 80% on business and 20% on mission. We decided to reverse that focus. We’re happy to be involved in the Boulder startup community, and inspired by the innovation in our city. BSW does important work making new connections and keeping relationships strong.”

Gloo develops customized cloud-based software solutions to help companies bring their employees closer together and collaborate better, while achieving measurable results.  Now 150-people strong and moving fast, the team at Gloo is passionate about partnering with the people and organizations who make it their mission to change lives.

We Welcome Uber as a First Time BSW18 Sponsor!

Uber is changing the way people think about transportation. Not that long ago, we were just an app to request premium black cars in a few metropolitan areas. Now we’re a part of the logistical fabric of more than 600 cities around the world, including Boulder, CO. Whether it’s a ride or a sandwich, we use technology to give people what they want, when they want it.

Change the Ratio Sponsor

For the people who drive with Uber, our app represents a flexible new way to earn money. For cities, we help strengthen local economies, improve access to transportation, and make streets safer.

And that’s just what we’re doing today. We’re thinking about the future, too. With teams working on bike sharing, flying electric vehicles, autonomous trucking and self-driving cars, we’re in for the long haul. We’re reimagining how people and things move from one place to the next.

Since the summer of 2015, we’ve had a Maps Engineering and Operations team based out of Boulder, and now Louisville. We’ve learned a lot in the last nine years — from starting out as just an idea in 2008, to being the world’s most valuable private company — and we want to give back to the next generation of entrepreneurs, innovators and company builders right here in Boulder.

  • To date, we’ve completed more than 5 billions trips. It took us five years to reach our first billion trips and six months for the next billion. We then completed the last three billion trips in less than a year!
  • When we launched in March 2009, we were called UberCab, and offered only black car, luxury service (see our full history here)
  • We are currently in 65 countries and more than 600 cities worldwide. Everyday, there are 15 million trips completed worldwide
  • We offer a myriad of products to help people move throughout their cities, from uberX and uberPOOL, to uberMOTO, uberWINE, and uberBOAT.

UberOur Louisville office is home to more than 100 employees and we’re currently hiring for site reliability engineers, software engineers and a few GIS/Map Operations positions. Check out our current openings here.

Welcome back Berg Hill Greenleaf Ruscitti, thank you for your continued support of BSW!

Giovanni Ruscitte moderates a BSW panel

Berg Hill Greenlead Ruscitti is a full service law firm offering a wide-range of legal services to corporate clients and individuals. In the last 17 years, they’ve grown from a small firm of five attorneys to a bustling firm of over 40 attorneys with over 15 practice areas making them Boulder’s largest local law firm – with a sophistication that rivals national law firms. They take pride in the close relationships developed with clients and in playing an integral role as strategic partners to help them reach their goals and provide solutions. This approach has made BHGR stand out among contemporary law firms.

“Start-ups are the lifeblood of any business community. Their ideas and creativity infuse the entire Boulder community with an entrepreneurial atmosphere that is unmatched anywhere else. As a firm, we are excited to share our expertise and experiences with others to help guide them toward success.” – David Kerr, partner, intellectual property, BHGR.

Legal Track Sponsor

BHGR’s core values parallel Boulder Startup Week’s own values. They believe, “No one is an island; there is not one of us that was not given support to become who we are today. The privilege and opportunity to exercise our many different skills and talents came to us through others, whether it was a parent, a teacher, a friend, an employer, or an organization.” Following Boulder Startup Week’s core value of #GiveFirst they spread their support to foundations around the area to help our community connect with the resource that will help develop our best abilities. We are honored to welcome them back to the Boulder Startup Week family this year.

Berg Hill Greenleaf Ruscitti staff will be appearing at many of the legal track events, introduce yourself and say hello!

Welcome Back The Trade Desk as a BSW 2018 Sponsor!

The Trade Desk

Boulder Startup Week is excited to welcome The Trade Desk back as one of our sponsors for 2018!

The Trade Desk is a global ad tech company with a vibrant office in downtown Boulder (and now Denver, but more on that below). Offering a pioneering software platform for advertising buyers, The Trade Desk provides marketers access to Real-Time Bidding (RTB) inventory for display, television, video, social, mobile, and so much more.

Design Track Sponsor

The fully self-serve Trade Desk platform, along with advanced training provided via the company’s proprietary Trading Academy, allows media buyers to unite their brand messaging across all media channels, and report on how the channel combinations are influencing their customers. Additionally, tech-forward agencies, aggregators, and platforms can enhance their proprietary offerings with The Trade Desk’s leading APIs.

The Trade Desk continues to innovate in order to improve the advertising user experience, which is the philosophy that drives their award-winning engineering team.  Their platform has been recognized by Forrester Research as “a better option for buyers,” and the company has also won several awards, including:

  • Top 10 most promising companies in America by Forbes Magazine
  • #9 in Best Places to work by Outside Magazine
  • #7 on Deloitte Technology Fast 500 list
  • #34 on Inc Magazine top 5000 companies

The Trade Desk: How I Roll

Since its inception in 2009, The Trade Desk has grown rapidly across the globe – and there are no signs of stopping. Last year saw the expanding Boulder team (currently 60 strong) relocate to bigger digs in the new Pearl West building; and more recently, the company opened up a Denver office – in the very cool LoHi WeWork building – to further accommodate its steady growth.

The Trade Desk is going to be fully immersed in the events at Boulder Startup Week, so keep an eye out for a TTD team member at the festivities next week, particularly in the Design Track.

We appreciate The Trade Desk continuing their support of Startup Week!

Check out the complete list of events for the Design Track.
