Boulder Startup Week is incredibly excited to welcome University of Colorado Boulder as a sponsor of BSW2016! CUBoulder is a huge component of our thriving startup ecosystem and there are five awesome events this week focused on university entrepreneurs:
● Monday 5/16 10am @ Spark Boulder: Let’s Build a Boulder Startup Map!
● Tuesday 5/17 9am @ Spark Boulder: CU Startup Summit
● Tuesday 5/17 10:30am @ Spark Boulder: How to Build an Awesome Internship Program
● Thursday 5/19 9am @ Spark Boulder: Get Shit Done and Still Go to Yoga: Holistic Productivity for Entrepreneurs
● Friday 5/20 2pm @ Spark Boulder: How to Go from Student to Startup Badass through Internships
Notice a theme here? All of these events are being held at Spark Boulder, which itself is an entrepreneurial effort by CUBoulder graduates, Bill Shrum, Ben Buie and Fletcher Richman. It’s all about giving back and giving forward, folks, and that fits right in with the spirit of BSW2016.
The best is yet to come as CUBoulder Chancellor Philip DiStefano recently placed the flag in the Flatirons that “CUBoulder’s ambition is to be one of the nation’s top entrepreneurial universities. I want to establish CUBoulder as the goto public university for entrepreneurship, startups, and innovation.”
As part of this ambition, Terri Fiez, CUBoulder’s new Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation joined the Chancellor’s leadership team eight months ago to elevate the entrepreneurial strategy at the campus level with more engagement and collaboration on and off campus. Terri has shared, “The combination of our world class research colocated with federal labs and industry partners in this vibrant entrepreneurial setting provides a remarkable opportunity for impact. This is an exciting time to be part of the CUBoulder community.”
Terri continues: “Entrepreneurial thinking leads to a better life. It’s innovative by design and breaks down barriers.” We certainly agree with the CUBoulder folks with that sentiment.
CUBoulder is a buzz with entrepreneurial activity, with programs such as the Deming Center for Entrepreneurship, Silicon Flatirons Center for Law, Technology, and Entrepreneurship, KeyBank Business Leadership Program, and Catalyze CUBoulder. Working together with offices across the campus, including the CU Law School, College of Engineering, Leeds School of Business, CU Technology Transfer Office, and CU Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research, CUBoulder actively encourages student, faculty, and staff participation in entrepreneurial pursuits both on and off campus. See their Entrepreneurship page for more information.
Especially for those of us who are CU alums (Go Buffs!), we love how CUBoulder is so involved with the startup community in Boulder. Thank you CUBoulder for being a Boulder Startup Week sponsor!
